“As a new Sage 1000 customer we quickly realised the need to investigate the market to find a reporting solution which would best fit our requirements.

We were introduced to sl-ect and briefed them of our requirements to have a full set of reports available from within Sage 1000. As a solution they promoted SQL Reporting Services as an effective flexible tool which would be capable of offering the functionality that we required. We liked the web page publication for reports and the ability to easily administer report security. We were impressed with the functionality to drill down into report data and even hyperlink to different reports. We also liked the variety of output formats available offering greater flexibility as to how we could distribute data; automatically send reports by email and export to Excel, Pdf and other file formats.

 

What sl-ect has created is a highly effective, user friendly reporting solution accessible from within Sage 1000 which has exceeded our initial expectations. Individual Customer reports are available in the ‘CRM Front End’ embedded in a tab created at Company level; Account Managers have access to a range of consolidated reports of their customer’s data embedded in a tab created in their ‘My CRM’; Management, Stock and Supplier reports are available from within the Fin&Ops program menu.

With their help we have gained a much better understanding of the costing data. This and a few changes to our processes have ensured that we now trust the results of the BOM Revaluation program and can use the figures to measure our profitability. We will sometimes get problems if the base data is incorrect, but even this is manageable because we use the Auditing module to track all changes to the costing fields.

Around this we have developed a reporting strategy using a small set of SQL Views that have masked many of the complexities of the Sage field names and table relationships. “Receiving in the region of 2000 customer orders per week requires a dynamic and flexible approach to material replenishment. This, combined with a relatively small raw material holding capacity, meant we were continually analysing our Sage MRP output in order to balance expediting critical raw materials with the space available to store them. On top of this, we were finding it difficult to monitor the effects on our raw materials by moving products up and down the plan.

 Adopting a collaborative approach to this issue, sl-ect has developed the MRP Summary Report which at the touch of a button allows us to see the consequences of alterations to the master schedule. This ensures that we fully understand the material consequences of schedule alterations, and by adopting a series of "hot-spot" alerts, these possible material show-stoppers have effectively been removed. Furthermore, the other screens in the REP pack have many other functional benefits, which allow my department to provide a better service to the business. For instance, we need to convert our sales forecast into a supplier forecast, a process that used to take hours. It now takes minutes to do this using the REP reports.”
